An Ongoing Live ONLINE Course:
In the Footsteps of Manfred Maier: Fundamentals of Constructive Drawing
Course information:
In the Footsteps of Manfred Maier: Fundamentals of Constructive Drawing is an online drawing course. This class operates as a series of ongoing live drawing sessions. Lessons cover an array of structurally-aligned subject matter and emphasize the constructive discipline of spatial navigation in drawing. The broader theme incorporates elements of perspective, negative space structure, comparative anatomy, organic volume organization and the depiction of an imaginative “geometry” within forms. Registration is extremely limited and based upon a first come, first-enrolled basis. Registrants retain the recordings (for personal use only) in perpetuity.
This continuing education course meets three Fridays per month, from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. EST in order to accommodate international participation. Through live demonstrations and interactive critiques of student exercises, Fundamentals of Constructive Drawing enables aspiring artists to support one another through this unique forum of study.
Purpose of the course:
This drawing course heightens the role of navigation of visualization, by developing, in the student, a constructive awareness about subject matter. This ability, acknowledged as "Structural Drawing" or "Construction" is, for the artist, a vastly underutilized discipline. To acquire a more introspective and practical insight, the skills associated with this subject comprise a expansive frontier. It is the purpose of this course to investigate that frontier as a series of creative exercises which pertain to the underlying mechanics, and artistry, of any form.
Each month and, occasionally, rolling into multiple months, a new subject is introduced and studied live. Obtaining an actual, physical version of the theme is recommended.
