Having been transfixed by the ​masterful graphite drawings of Adolph Friedrich Erdmann von Menzel (1815-1905), this drawing course explores his work more deeply through the studious and time-honored procedure of copying drawings. Students focus on faithfully representing the way that Menzel handled hatch marks, his composition & tonal development, and the use of paper - including Menzel’s clever mobilization of the blending stump.
