PURPOSE OF THE COURSE:

This intensive online course has been designed (and the recordings re-edited) to focus on the human hand. Beginning with an in-depth slide presentation exploring structures to interpret artistically, students are then guided through practical application—drawing the hand anatomy; understanding proper movement; noting varied planes of light and shadow; investigating the common challenges to successful depiction (the wrist region and finger cross-sections, especially).  Given their huge potential for expression, this opportunity to study the hand and its subdivisions promises significant developments in student drawing and painting, with the attributes of profound structure and feeling.
